Airs-ins laboratory : Extraction Flow Rate

The AIR-INS LABORATORY has tested three Maximum roof ventilators to determine the air flow extracted by the ventilator for an approach ambient air speed of 4 mi/h. Additionally, this mandate included the generation of performance curves for the static ventilators in both modes of ventilation being infiltration and exhaustion.

The Results:

Model 301 : “We can conclude that the flow rate of extracted air as a function of an approach air velocity of 4 mi/h, independent of orientation is greater than 418 ft3/min.”

Model 303 : “We can conclude that the flow rate of extracted air as a function of an approach air velocity of 4 mi/h, independent of orientation is greater than 266 ft3/min.”

Model 302 : “We can conclude that the flow rate of extracted air as a function of an approach air velocity of 4 mi/h, independent of orientation is greater than 134 ft3/min.”

Note : The above mentioned test was crucial in order to determine air exchange rates as well as ventilation capacity per model. Each model has a pre-determined ventilation area based on three (3) air exchanges per hour.

CSA Standards, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation*

A) A first observation was made on the ventilator’s resistance to high winds. The following results have been observed on all the models : “The ventilators have shown no evidence of collapse, deformation or component separation”.

B) A second observation consists of verifying the ventilator’s resistance to rain infiltrations. The following results have been observed on all the models : “There has been no infiltrations of water”.

C) The last observation consists in testing the ventilator’s resistance to corrosion. The following results have been observed on all the models : “The ventilators have shown no evidence of corrosion, embrittlement or other injurious defect”.

Miami Dade Approved Product (NOA# 08-1106.02)

A) The ventilator’s resistance to hurricane winds of 110 mi/h combined with 8 in. of rain. The ventilators resistance to deformation or collapse.
Result : Passed

B) The ventilator’s resistance to corrosion : (1000 hrs./ salt & spray)
Result : Passed

A) The ventilator’s resistance to hurricane wind of 110 mi/h combined with 8 in.of rain. The ventilators resistance to deformation or collapse
Result : Passed

B) The ventilator’s resistance to corrosion : (2000 hrs. / salt & spray)
Result : Passed

Department of Agricultural Biosystems Engineering

Performance testing for natural ventilated system in accordance to the AmericanSociety of Heating and Air conditioning Engineering.

Note : Comparison test between a convention chimneys versus a Maximum Ventilator both 24 in.x 24 in. installed on a piggery facility.

Results : The Maximum Ventilator offered a more stable air flow no matter what the outside temperature or wind velocity were.
